If you are wondering, what is ESI scheme? Here is your answer. The Employee State Insurance Scheme (ESIS), is a social security and health insurance plan for selected Indian employees. In the event of illness, pregnancy, disability, or death from accidents, related to the place of employment, it offers medical and financial benefits to workers and their families. Under the management of the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), workers from non-seasonal factories and businesses making up to ₹21,000 per month receive coverage.
ESIS, meaning the Employee State Insurance Scheme, is a nationwide network of medical institutions, hospitals, and dispensaries. ESIS improves the quality of life for workers and their families by offering complete healthcare coverage and financial support, which promotes stability and security in the workforce.

Family members of insured persons are entitled to medical care, as described above, in all implemented regions. You must check the ESIS's website to confirm if your local hospital covers ESIS, in case you are wondering what is ESI hospital. Family members of IPs are also entitled to one or more of the following:
· The insured person's family member is eligible to take one or more medical benefits
· "FULL" medical care, which includes hospitalisation and all other IP-related facilities;
· "EXPANDED" medical care, which excludes hospitalisation and includes other IP-related facilities. This group includes a tiny number of IPs in the States of Gujarat and Bihar.

What is ESI current rate? Well, the employer and employee contributions at a predetermined rate will make up the contribution that is due to the Corporation on behalf of an employee. There are periodic revisions to the rates.
As of July 1, 2019, the employer's contribution rate is 3.25% of earnings paid or payable for each employee during a pay period, while the employee's contribution rate is 0.75% of wages. Workers are excused from contributing if they receive an average daily wage of up to Rs. 176. However, employers will make their contributions to these workers.
The contributions to the employee insurance scheme must be paid to the Corporation at the rates mentioned above within 15 days of the end of the calendar month in which they are due.
Contribution Period | Corresponding Cash Benefit Period |

October 1 to March 31 of the subsequent year | July 1 to December 31 |
Are you wondering, what is the meaning of ESI?
With the ESI health insurance plan, you are eligible to get two different kinds of health benefits:
- Medical Benefits: Health care is available to you and your dependents. You must go to any hospital that is endorsed by ESI to receive this.
- Cash Benefits: Workers or beneficiaries of this employee insurance scheme are eligible to receive cash benefits in the event of illness, disability (temporary or permanent), pregnancy, unemployment, death of a dependent, and physical and/or vocational rehabilitation.
