K.G Krishnamoorthy Rao
Managing Director & CEO of Generali Central Insurance

Krishnamoorthy Rao K.G., the Managing Director & CEO of Generali Central Insurance, is a seasoned insurance and risk management leader with over 35 years of experience across India and global markets. He has built, scaled, and transformed insurance businesses across their lifecycle, from early-stage setup to growth and turnaround.

From 2018 to 2022, he served as CEO of Generali's joint venture in Malaysia, leading a business turnaround and delivering over 30% growth, outperforming the market through the pandemic period. He was also a founding leader at Future Generali India Insurance (FGII), which he joined at inception in 2007. He played a pivotal role in setting up core functions including underwriting, claims, and operations, and established the company’s branch and distribution network. He became Chief Operating Officer in 2008 and Managing Director & CEO in 2009, leading the organisation for nearly a decade and building a strong reputation for customer focus, underwriting discipline, and profitable growth.

Rao holds a B.Tech in Production Engineering from the University of Calicut and is a Fellow of the Insurance Institute of India. He began his career in 1986 at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), working on ignition systems for the ASLV and PSLV missions.

Transitioning to the insurance sector in 1988, Rao joined the National Insurance Company as a Risk Engineer, gaining hands-on exposure to risk inspections, engineering underwriting, and claims across industries. He subsequently advised clients on risk and insurance strategy at Tata AIG Risk Management Services, before serving as Risk and Insurance Manager at Enron India. From 2001 to 2007, he was Head of Underwriting at Bajaj Allianz General Insurance, where he helped establish underwriting practices and steered the business to early profitability.

Armed with decades of leadership experience and a proven track record of building resilient, performance-driven insurance businesses, Rao is well-positioned to lead Generali Central Insurance into its next phase of growth.

Parveen Kumar Gupta

Independent Director and Chairman

Parveen Kumar Gupta retired from State Bank of India as Managing Director after over 37 years of service in all areas of Financial Services including Retail Banking, Digital Initiatives, Treasury, International Banking, Risk, Compliance, Finance, Investment Banking, Private Equity, etc. Mr. Gupta was nominated on the Boards of various investee companies of SBI, the Boards of SBI General Insurance Co. Limited and SBI Life Insurance Co Limited for two years.

Currently, Mr. Gupta serves as Non-executive Chairman of National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) and is an Independent Director on the boards of Utkarsh Small Finance Bank Limited, Midland Microfin Limited, Protium Finance Limited, Bank of India Investment Managers Limited and India Shelter Finance Corporation Limited.

Mr. Gupta was a Senior Advisor of Bank of Baroda, Mumbai. His role included advising BOB on strategy, performance evaluation and monitoring and improving its risk management practices and treasury operations.

He was a Chairman of the Foreign Exchange Dealers Association of India (FEDAI) from June 2014 to August 2015. In his capacity as the Chairman of FEDAI, he actively participated in formulating policies about the conduct of foreign exchange business in India and jointly hosted many programmes along with RBI. Earlier, during his tenure as Chief Dealer Forex, he was actively engaged in developments of forex derivatives in the Indian market in my role as the Chairman of Forex Association of India.

Mr. Gupta is a Commerce graduate from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, an Associate Company Secretary (ACS), Institute of Company Secretaries of India, New Delhi and a Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers, Mumbai (C.A.I.I.B).

SHAILESH HARIBHAKTI

Independent Director

Shailesh Haribhakti is a renowned Chartered and Cost Accountant, and a Certified Internal Auditor, Financial Planner, and Fraud Examiner, with over five decades of experience. Mr Haribhakti is the Chairman of Shailesh Haribhakti & Associates Chartered Accountants, and the Vice Chairman of GOvEVA Consulting Pvt Ltd. He has been conferred with the Global Competent Boards Designation (GCB.D) by Competent Boards Inc, Canada. Presented with the honorary PhD title of “Doctor of Letters” by ITM University. He has been awarded the ’Vivekananda Sustainability Award – 2022’ by Vivekananda Youth Connect Foundation.

A proponent of a clean and green environment, he is credited to have successfully established the concept of ‘Innovate to Zero’ and technology enabling CSR/ESG/Sustainability.

In the space of dispute settlement and arbitration, he has demonstrated his expertise as Expert Witness and Valuer in both domestic and international jurisdictions. He represented India on the Standards Advisory Council (SAC) of the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) in London for two years. He worked with Polish Business Advisory Services (PBAS), an affiliate of IFC Washington, to establish Activity-based costing and Strategic Planning Processes in Polish SMEs.

In addition, Mr Haribhakti is currently the Non-Executive Chairman of the Board of Bluestar Limited,  Cynergis Infotech India Pvt Ltd, Protean e-Gov Technologies Ltd, and Chairman of IBS Fintech India Pvt  Ltd, Planet People & Profit Consulting Pvt Ltd, and YCWI Green Solutions Pvt Ltd. 

He is also a Board Member of several leading companies including Adani Total Gas Ltd, Bajaj Electricals  Ltd, Bennett Coleman and Company Ltd (Times Group), Brookprop Services Pvt Ltd (a Brookfield REIT),  Generali Central Insurance Company Ltd, Gaja Trustee Company Pvt Ltd (Gaja Capital Group),  L&T Finance Holdings Ltd, Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd, amongst others. 

In recent times, some prominent Boards and Board Committees led by him have been recognised with  coveted awards, which speak of his penchant for excellence in the areas of corporate governance and  sustainability. 

He has been associated with many management institutions as well as industry and professional  forums. He has led the Bombay Management Association; Institute of Internal Auditors, Bombay  Chapter; Western India Regional Council, Institute of Chartered Accountants of India; Indian  Merchants Chambers; Financial Planning and Standards Board, India; and Rotary Club of Bombay; over  the last many decades. He has served on the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI)’s  Committee on Disclosures and Accounting Standards and Takeover Panel and was Chairman of the  NPS (National Pension Scheme) Trust from 2015-2017.

Sharad Kumar Saxena

Independent Director

Mr. Sharad Kumar Saxena, aged 62 years, is a gold medalist engineering  graduate in Electronics & Telecommunication from Government  Engineering College, Jabalpur. He is also a Certified Information System  Auditor (CISA) from ISACA, US, and a Certified ISO 27001 Implementer and  Certified Senior Examiner for Quality Management for the Indian  Merchant's Chamber. 

Mr. Sharad Kumar Saxena has more than 30 years of experience and had  held almost various leadership positions in ICICI Bank technology group,  such as heading the technology function for Corporate Banking, Commercial  Banking, Asset products including Corporate & Retail Loans, International  Banking, Credit Cards, Cash Management Services, Payment Systems, Core  Banking, Switching, HR, CRM and Compliance & Fraud Management, Head  of IT Infrastructure group including Networks and head of Technology  Compliance for interfacing all audits and inspections. 

He retired as the Chief Technology Officer of Bank of Baroda in 2021. He  successfully led the bank’s merger of erstwhile Vijaya Bank and erstwhile  Dena Bank with Bank of Baroda from an IT standpoint. He is a Technology  Advisor to UCO Bank and Information Technology Consultant to Indian  Bank.

Roberto Leonardi

Non-Executive Director

Roberto Leonardi is the Regional Officer for Generali Asia and he oversees Generali Asia's insurance operations in both Life and Property & Casualty businesses. He has 25 years of experience in Life and Health businesses across Asia, Europe, and South Africa.

Prior to joining Generali, he was with AXA Asia where he was responsible for Health & Employment Benefits, Protection, Marketing, Digital and Big Data. Before AXA Asia, Mr. Leonardi worked at Munich Reinsurance where he was Regional Head of the Munich Health overseeing the health reinsurance and insurance businesses with specific focus on Greater China, India, Indonesia and Japan.

He also spent 13 years with UnitedHealth International (a listed Fortune 25 company) where he held several executive positions including Executive Vice President & CEO of UnitedHealth Asia, CEO of Portugal and Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer in its joint ventures. During his tenure, he turned around the Asia business and was actively involved in M&A activities in various markets across Asia.

Mr. Leonardi started his career as a chartered accountant with Coopers & Lybrand in South Africa. Born in Italy, Mr. Leonardi grew up in Denmark and South Africa and currently lives in Hong Kong.

Mr. Leonardi is a Chartered Accountant and was appointed as the Director of the Company w.e.f May 05, 2022.

Valentina Sarrocco

Non-Executive Director

Valentina Sarrocco was appointed as the Non-Executive Director of the Company w.e.f February 17, 2023. Ms. Valentina has almost 20 years’ of corporate and transactional lawyer experience in corporate governance matters, M&A/divestitures, general commercial, cross border transactions, insurance and project financing. Ms. Valentina has also provided pro-bono legal advice to several UN Committees and Agencies.

Ms. Valentina was a part of the International General Counsel and Head of Group Entities Corporate Matters of Assicurazioni Generali S.p.A. Prior to joining Generali Group, she worked as a Senior Associate at McDermott Will & Emery and Chiomenti respectively. Ms. Valentina is also on various Corporate Boards.

Ms. Valentina holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law and is a member of the Italian Bar. She has also done Senior Manager Program and Executive Program on M&A transactions from Italy. Ms. Valentina has also attended the Global Leadership Program STEP UP - Lifetime Partner Edition organised by IMD Business School, Zurich and has been to the Wharton School of Business, USA.

Lima Alexandrova

Non-Executive Director

Lima Alexandrova is a finance professional with over 15 years of experience in the advisory, banking, and insurance industries with significant international exposure.

Lima joined Assicurazioni Generali S.p.A. (“Generali”) in 2020 as part of the Group Chief Investment function, serving as Head of Portfolio Implementation and Investment Mandates. In this capacity, she was responsible for more than EUR 400 billion of Assets under Management of the insurance portfolio. She ensured the effective deployment and implementation of the annual strategic allocation of Generali Group through internal and external Asset Managers and monitored their subsequent performance.

In September 2024, Lima was promoted to Head of Insurance Business Performance Asia in the newly created Insurance Division. In this role, she is responsible for monitoring the business performance and initiatives within the Asia Region, working closely with country CEOs as well as the Asia Regional Office.

Prior to joining Generali, Lima worked for BlackRock Financial Markets Advisory, focusing on advisory support and portfolio optimization, which enabled her to gain significant experience in Model Risk Management framework (for both set up and implementation) as well as in regulatory strategy and stress-testing.

From 2011 to 2017, Lima covered different roles with growing responsibilities within the Risk and Finance functions of UniCredit S.p.A., the largest Italian bank and one of the largest banks within the European Union.

Lima’s career started in 2007 at the Beijing Branch of OJSC Promsvyazbank (PSB), where she supported the trade financing operations and provided risk assessment and advisory on Chinese counterparties to the Head Office.

Lima holds a Degree in Finance and Economics from St. Petersburg State University (Russia, 2007) and a Master’s in Business Administration from the Altis Business School of Catholic University in Milan (Italy, 2010). She is fully proficient in Russian, Italian, and English, and she can speak German and Mandarin at professional level.

M. V. Murali Krishna

Non-Executive Director

Mr. M. V. Murali Krishna is the Executive Director of the Bank w.e.f 01st December, 2022.Prior to this, he served as Chief General Manager at Bank of Baroda.

M. V. Murali Krishna is an MBA in Banking and Finance. He began his career with Bank of Baroda a Probationary Officer and has over three decades of professional banking experience in leadership roles. His expertise extends to all major areas of banking including corporate credit, International Operations, Rural and Agricultural Banking, Financial Inclusions, NRI business etc.His last posting in Bank of Baroda was as Head of Corporate Institutional Credit – Large Corporate.

During his long stint in the Banking Industry, he worked across various branches to Regional Offices and from Overseas territory to Corporate office.He successfully handled the responsibilities such as Head of Large Corporate, Head of International Operations, Head of Rural & Agriculture Department and Head of Financial Inclusion Department. Earlier, he also served as a Director on the Board of BOB Capital Finance Ltd., Baroda, Gujarat Gramin Bank and AFC India Ltd (Agriculture Finance Corporation).

Presently he is serving on the Board of the Bank’s subsidiary companies, holding the position of Director at Centbank Financial Services Limited and Additional Director at Centbank Home Finance Limited

Vasti Venkatesh

Prior to this, he served as General Manager – Treasury/International Division, Central Bank of India

Vasti Venkatesh is a seasoned banking professional with over 36 years of rich and extensive experience across core banking domains. Throughout his distinguished career at the Central Bank of India, he has held key leadership positions in verticals such as Treasury, Resource Mobilization, Operations, and Marketing.

He has effectively served in various roles including Branch Head and Regional Head, with a wide geographic exposure spanning Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Delhi. His vast expertise and leadership have significantly contributed to the strategic growth and operational excellence of the institutions he has been associated with.

He has now been nominated as a director to the board of FGIICL & FGILICL bringing with him a wealth of experience and insights from banking and financial services sector.

Presently, he is serving as a Director on the Board of subsidiaries Companies of Bank.
