The Program
As part of the program under ‘The Human Safety Net’, We have been focusing on ‘For Families’ component and are working with children and engaging them in activities that help them develop their social, emotional and cognitive intelligence. The program extensively works with parents where workshops are conducted for them as the role of parents in early years is most significant as the provider of ‘nurturing care.’ The workshops conducted include sensitisation, awareness generation, practical demonstration and problem solving. The content of the workshops is reviewed keeping in mind inputs received during the health camps.
The activities concentrate on improving regular attendance and reducing drop-out rates by executing activities among children that work on their language skills and cognitive development. The project also focuses on improving community participation by implementing workshops for parents and caregivers thereby improving their knowledge on various subjects and addressing issues like poor nutrition, pre-school education etc. The impact howsoever from the project has been increased attendance among children, increased capacities of Anganwadi Workers (AWWs), structured learning approach and participation from parents and caregivers.
The program with an aim to lay a strong foundation of nurturing care between the parents and children and benefits about 2000+ beneficiaries in Maharashtra.
